Matt Yardley
Matt Yardley is a London-based trumpet player currently performing in MJ The Musical at the Prince Edward Theatre. While predominantly a commercial player, he has a strong background in jazz, pop and big band playing. He has performed in numerous West End productions and toured both nationally and internationally.
Matt studied lead trumpet at the University of North Texas with Jay Saunders and performed in the acclaimed Lab Bands under bandleader Brad Leali.
He is the founder and bandleader of the BIGG House Band, having developed a loyal following in Bedfordshire where he now lives. His broad experience and musical versatility keep him in high demand for shows, concerts, recording sessions.
STUDIO
Matt has a fully equipped home studio for home recording and uses Reaper DAW software. He uses a selection of microphones including AKG C414 and Heilsound. In his studio he also has a Broadwood & Sons grand piano.
TEACHING
Matt is an experienced brass educator, having taught in schools, for music services, and as a guest tutor for music courses such as Aldeburgh Young Musicians. With a distinct and adaptable teaching style, Matt tailors lessons to suit each student's individual needs and learning preferences. Drawing on his degree research into the impact of globalisation on modern brass pedagogy, he blends traditional techniques with contemporary methods to create engaging and effective lessons. Whether working with beginners or advanced players, Matt focuses on building confidence, technique, and musical expression in an engaging and supportive environment.
